Central and Hinkley have always had the reputation of "bad" schools. There were gang fights between them when I was a kid in the 80's.
The "bad part of town" was always Five Points. Then it was Aurora, north of Colfax, west of I-225. Then it was 6th on the east side. Alameda, Mississippi...
I went to Gateway and it was getting bad then. I can relate personal tales and cite numerous anecdotes of white kids getting jumped and beaten or extorted by black kids.
I was involved in a gang fight between white and black kids. It didn't amount to much more than a lot of yelling and a couple guys fighting, but still scary when, what we thought were men showed up on their side. I was a skinny, 15 year old white boy.
I know a guy that may have been involved in administration at RangeView. He may have quit because of the gang problems. He may have cited Asian vs. Black. This was around 15 years ago, so obviously, things may have changed.
I am concerned about this city.
I hope the administration takes a strong stance about crime. Otherwise Aurora will continue to be a joke, regardless of being the 3rd largest city in Colorado.
