Wow, this is literally the first time I've heard of a forward assist actually being useful (and not being used to either jam up a jammed gun tighter, or set the gun up for a catastrophic failure).

Modern liberalism is based on the idea that reality is obligated to conform to one's beliefs because; "I have the right to believe whatever I want".

A World Without Guns <- Great Read!
I used mine once on my first Bushmaster. I was shooting Steel ammunition and on the third round of the first magazine it ejected the spent case. I pulled the trigger and nothing. I looked at the gun and saw that the bolt did not go into battery. I pushed the forward assist and the bolt closed. I did not pull the trigger but dropped the mag, racked the bolt and ejected the cartridge. I cleared the gun, pulled the upper and inspected for a clear barrel and any thing that might cause another problem. Looked good so I continued, everything worked fine after that. I have never had to use the FA again.

I used mine some in the Army. Was the well used A1 the issue, or the ammo? I'll never know for sure. Because of my experience, I only purchase uppers that have them. I'd rather have it and not need it as they say.

David - CS, CO feedback
It's a measure of the civility in this country that no ones seems to fear constantly pissing off the people who own lots of guns.
I have used mine on a Doublestar 15 Carbine a few times back in 2009. Turned out the gas key was not properly staked from the factory and had managed to get a little wiggly during the first few hundred rounds. Once diagnosed and addressed, it’s been 100% since… for thousands and thousands of rounds. It’s now just an “extra” rifle and not my primary, but I definitely still trust it.
