    He always seemed like a nice man, but he was an uninspiring, unexciting, sacrificial candidate in '96 when the R's knew they couldn't beat a very popular Clinton. He never had a chance.

    Clinton got less than 50% of the vote in both '92 and '96. It seemed to me at the time that Bob Dole was the only candidate the Republicans could have selected who could have lost to Billy Boy in '96. I respect and honor the service he gave to our country but I do blame his ego for Clinton's second term.
