You're right, it had nothing to do with the gay scene. It was just a really bad attempt at a movie. If you like to watch movies like that (with gay scenes), I believe I mentioned that's up to you and it doesn't bother me. I'm surprised to hear you so testy, actually. Did I inadvertently strike a nerve?
Really, I rather expected swordfights, fistfights, gratuitous violence, blood, and gore with very little in the way of cultural qualities. I was still disappointed. 300, on the other hand, was almost everything I wanted from that sort of a movie.
In reality, the reason I wouldn't watch a movie such as Brokeback Mountain has a lot more to do with my disagreement with promoting that orientation or lifestyle or whatever you choose to call it than it does any homophobic fear or worry that any reputation I might have would be sullied by the mere presence of such a movie in my surroundings. But you're free to think whatever you'd like.
I believe I'm going to watch Boondock Saints (Oh, wait! Willem DaFoe's character is GAY! What will I do?), or maybe Pulp Fiction (Wait, gay rape scene! Can't do that! I'd die in the gutter!). Maybe I'll just stick with Underworld, and watch guys sucking on other guy's necks instead. I'll balance that with a little culture, in the form of my new bottle of Stranahan's.
(In the end, 3:10 to Yuma won.)
