Ok, the price on the 4x4 posts are well past Colorado High - gabbed about the less snake one they had, a few 2x4 just because.

Now poking at it looks like someone used a bag or two cement setting that post in. Going to be a royal pain.

No cedar pickets....this is looking less fun here. I might try finding a large eye screw "bolt" - and see if I can pry out the cement + old post. and drop in the new one.

Use a tire to pull it out, works for stumps.

Yep, good trick there converting part of the pull from horizontal to semi-vertical.

With the eye screw - I was hoping to maybe take a field jack or even long pry bar to do the real work.
The break is below the cement where the fence post is located.

Another trick I was thinking is to rent a power washer and use water power to "dig" around the post area.

I just replaced a 4x4 fence post 3 weeks ago. Got enough dirt out from around the concrete base and slapped a wide tow strap around it, then pulled the whole sucker out with my winch. Worked great and was smooth as silk. No pressure spikes or bouncing whatsoever.
    My wife was impressed
