So we are going to blame the wolf for doing wolf stuff.

Maybe the fucking humans need to manage their pets when in wolf country.

Says it was on a ranch. They were likely to be working dogs.

But I do agree as I often see people letting their tiny dogs run way ahead of them on trails and such. Well they would make a nice snack for any predators ahead. At least the human has a good chance of scaring them off before they even know they are there.

I am not blaming the wolf. Just stating a fact about how ranchers and farmers feel about their dogs.

Often the compensation is not adequate. Not sure if they decided how much they will pay for wolf damage, but sometimes it is quite an insulting number compared to what the animal may have went for at market.

Bears kill pets. Coyotes kill pets.

Bears and coyotes were not reintroduced to the area by a bunch of well-meaning -- but misguided -- wolf lovers.

Yeah let's just go about eliminating entire native species from a ecosystem, that's worked well in the past...

Another one. Same ranch as the last cow. Two attacked, one had to be put down.

How do ranchers up north deal with this? I have heard of dogs or jacks keeping the coyotes at bay but a wolf is about four times the size of a coyote.

There are some giant, livestock protecting, wolf killing dogs in some eastern European countries that I remember seeing. Forget what they are called, but these dogs are crazy. We may need some of those. I'll try to look them up.
