    Irish wolf hounds? We have a couple great pyrenees, but I doubt they would match up with a wolf. They are doing decent at keeping the lions away.

    How do ranchers in "traditional" wolf areas deal with this problem? Does livestock become more "wolf aware" over time?

    Livestock being domesticated by definition tend to be reliant on humans for protection. That is why for millennia men with herds and flocks lived with their animals, and trained dogs to help protect them. That is what many Mastiff breeds were bred for. Big, tough, loose skinned breeds in a pack are more than a match for a wolf pack. But the fact is in an ecosystem with lupine predators you cannot leave your domestic animals alone, or you will suffer some losses.

    I just assumed the incidents were on the west side of North Park, but they are actually occuring NE of town.
