He believes that it is good and right to gain access to senior levels of government, and use that access for advocacy.

So don't say the little victories don't have consequences. By giving this guy with obvious mental issues a somewhat high level government job, it is a signal to other societal outliers that their behavior is not only accepted, it is celebrated.
