It hit $4/gal today. Not quite to 2008, but we will be very soon.

I was in CA in 2008 and remember paying $5 at the pump in SF. The Avg price of regular in SF is $5.50 today.

You are not considering inflation. Official numbers suggest we had a cumulative inflation of ~30% since 2008. $4/gal in 2008 is $5.22/gal in today's dollar. We still have a bit to go to reach equivalent pain.

What I remember at that time was the jump was primarily in gasoline costs. Many businesses assessed a fuel charge on lots of services and products. I clearly remember having to explain the surcharge to clients. This time around, it seems that everything is skyrocketing, so less surcharge, more price increase.

Biden announces that we are cutting off Russian imported oil. Better gas up sooner rather than later, we haven't seen the end of rising gas prices, and everything associated with it.

Oh, and of course he never mentioned ramping up domestic production.....just said that we all need to expect a little more pain at the pump...
Laws aren't "preventable" measures. IOW, more gun laws won't stop mass shootings.

Of course not. His party is still fighting domestic production in order to save the planet from drilling and fracking.

I've been trying to top off once I hit the 1/4 mark, filled up for $3.99 yesterday morning on the way to work, by the time I got off work, it was $4.29 pretty much across the Tucson metro area.

If the politicians really wanted to help, they'd work to increase production, and they'd temporarily repeal gas taxes.
