Default Frequent fliers - Smaller air ports and short term booking.

Part of my impending attempt to relocate to oklahoma is going out ahead of time to complete training for some state requirements. The other problem is house hunting im leery of buying sight unseen. Their real estate market is hot so I might be flying out there last minute as 16 hours each way is a bit of a drive and I don't have time while trying to speak up OT here while I can.

Ive been told there's a plethora of small airports. I was wondering if anyone had a favorite website for booking flights that might include those or have any tips other than just book out as far as possible for cheaper rates.

Uhm, I can drive to Houston in less than 16 hours.

Sorry, I don?t have much to offer other than to say I?ve had to get last minute flights to several states when I?ve had unexpected deaths in the family and it isn?t a big deal. Usually you might pay a little more for the ticket but occasionally I?ve gotten pretty good deals as they?re trying to fill up the last few empty seats on a flight.

    Good luck.

Just hoping to figure out a way to be economical. Maybe it's better than I've feared, pre covid I remember seeing $60 tickets vs $500 week of.

My wife used to visit her folks by flying from the Springs to Paducah, KY, with a layover in Chicago. There were no direct flights as all came through big hubs - most notably Chicago, but never DIA. Your milage may vary by going into OK though. I do recall that we saved a little bit by buying as early as possible but most of the time she could get ticketed from COS to Nashville, TN cheaper (by at least $200) than she could get to Paducah - but then she'd need a car and the drive was 1.5 hrs vice 30 minutes to her folks place.

I fly a lot, but work pays for it all.

You're basically looking at Dallas, Northwest Arkansas (don't let the name fool you, it is a good airport), OKC, or Tulsa. Just depends on where exactly you are headed to.

In my experience, Southwest is no bargain when it comes to competitive routes and bidness travel timing.

Book early, record it as a moving expense, and don't waste time overthinking it

I like google flights to find prices. Take a good look at that site, you can get prices in list or graph form. GF is not an expedia, it's just a search engine.
