I hear like most things in life, What-a-Burger isn't what it used to be. They were my favorite fast food burger joint when I lived in TX almost 30 years ago.

I've had some AMAZING burgers at various times through the years, but never from a chain place. I don't recall the last time I bit into a burger and thought "Wow, that's fantastic".

I'm "meh" on In-&-Out. I've had them in Santa Barbara, L.A., Utah and now in CO and every time they were "meh". Never had Whataburger but now that they're in the Springs, one day I'll try 'em.

I also miss a really good pizza. Tried many places here in CO and they're "meh" too. Hell, even pizza in/around Boston and in Brooklyn were okay, but nothing to rave about. I miss Godfathers pizza back in MO (I think they closed all of their MO locations too though; so sad).

Describe them. What makes a burger earn capital letters amazing? I was in the restaurant business for many years. I still have an interest in what makes food stand out.

Ate there as a kid. We liked El Chicos better.

Found "good" pizza right before I left CO. There is a great Italian restaurant on S. Broadway and W. Hampden Ave., north of Hwy 285. The Gallo Super Club is my goto for pizza in Denver.

My new hometown of Anna Tx has 4 fast-food burger chains. We've got McDs, Whataburger, Sonic, and Carls Jr. (The Carls is connected with a truck stop and open 24/7.)

Today I had my first Whataburger since moving down here. Thought it was ok, nothing too special. Better than McD's, BK, Wendys, etc. But not as good as Braums, which is my new go-to for a burger, but I have to drive one town north or south to get to one.

Way back when I was in my early twenties, I lived in Dana Point CA, and really loved In-and-Out. But of course I'd get take out, and eat on the beach, so I'm guessing that made anything better.

If I lived there, I'd go broke in the Melissa Buc-ees.

The whataburger patty melt is my go-to.

I'll be down the road from you next week, chowing down on decent food. My brother-in-law is a pastor in Gordonville

I liked hitting the drive through at Braum's. Could pick up some cookies and a gallon of milk while I was at it.

Was running late tonight getting home, wife out of town so I needed a quick and easy dinner. A couple pulled pork sandwiches and a banana pudding from that Buc-ees did the job nicely.
