    Default Litter Robot

I'm one of those "normal" people who own, and like, cats. My new kitten makes a mess with the litter, even with my super deep covered box. Top it with a few decades of scooping and I'm debating dropping the insane amount of money Litter Robot gets for one of their products.

Wow! That's spendy but cleaning a cat box is the worst. Might be worth it.

We just got cat #3 on Friday. This one is a little kitten.

I told my wife that there is no way I can keep up with the litter box duties with 3 cats so it was time to get an automated litter box. My thought was the Litter Robot as well.

I see they are now on version 4. I looked at these last summer and they were only on version 3 and they were $100 cheaper. $649 now - ouch.

Last year I did a LOT of checking out of various automated boxes and the Litter Robot always ranked the highest. Their 1 (big) drawback is they don't hold a lot of used litter/waste. With 3 cats I expect to have to tend to the cleanup 3 or even 4x/wk. I wish the storage was larger.

Still debating it myself. If I pull the trigger I'll let you know my take on it; I ask the same from you. But... they won't be shipping (at least not version 4) until some time in July (with my luck, it's LATE July).

    Trick #1
Have at least one more box than you have cats.

Following up with a three sided deep dish litter box.

Had a friend who used electric boxes and liked them. I'll see if I can get a name.

Robot 3 is still available at $100 less than the 4. I read a bunch of reviews on the 4, it sounds like they sold/sent out enough for beta testing and feedback already. The feed back, true or not, makes the 4 sound like a real upgrade from the 3.

Just picked up litter robot 3 and honestly I thought it was stupid to spend that coin a litter box but only 2wks with it and it's amazing. Can't smell it and pull the tray and throw the bag away when you get a full notification! We only have one cat but totally worth it to me!

I have good cats that don't guard the boxes, so going to one self-cleaning box shouldn't be an issue.
I spoke to more than one persona t work who uses them and they swore to me it was worth it. I'm sure I'll end up with one at this point. It's simply a matter of time. Looking at my card statements I'm slightly over-extended currently. I can probably have some money set aside by the time the Robot 4 releases in July.

I've got a friend that has 3 Maine Coons. Two of them don't mind it, but one of them is terrified of the Litter robot.

A few months ago, I made the transition for our upstairs boxes to sifter litter boxes, and I went to Tractor Supply in Castle Rock and bought 40# bags of wood pellets for @ $6 each, and used that in the litter boxes. One of our cats doesn't care for it, so he goes down to the basement litterboxes because those are the ones we use with crushed walnut litter. The thing I like about the wood pellet litter is that when they pee on it, the pellets disintegrate and a few passes of the litter scoop simply push the sawdust through the holes in the sifter box into the bottom tray. You scoop the poo as normal, but it seems to dry faster. Cleaning the litterboxes doesn't take very long at all, and there's no shoveling and dealing with the dust or the litter stink on days when it's a little more humid. If you go that route, you'll want to make some adjustments with the sifting boxes; I've put some blocks of wood between the sifter portion and the bottom pan, to provide for more room for the wet sawdust to go through the holes. Other than that, it's a far less expensive option if your cats will cooperate.

Otherwise, you might want to look on Facebook Marketplace and see if anyone is selling theirs.
