hollohas, you might want to put another plastic covering over the blankets in case of moisture-a tip I learned from a master gardener at O'Toole's a few years ago. She highly recommended a second plastic layer with a blanket in between, keeps the moisture from freezing the blankets and seeping through the first plastic layer.

Also I knew May in college, I think the most she ever got was 6"
