Took this on my last international vacation. Bullfighting in Portugal, particularly in the Azores, is very different from in Spain. They don't try to kill the bull and it's a mark of skill, bravado, and stupidity to get as close as they can to the bull while it's running around. In the ideal performance, the matador will place his (or her although I don't recall ever seeing any women partiicipating in this) hand on the bull's forehead while avoiding being gored.
So yeah, being on this wall isn't going to help either ... they can get up that wall pretty darn quick ...
