    Default 1000% Tax on Guns

    https://thehill.com/news/house/35126...style-weapons/

As a way around an outright ban, Rep. Don Beyer proposes a 1000% tax on "assault weapons". This legislation would only need 50 Senate votes.

I am certain there could be a way to apply this to accessories such as magazines and of course ammo.

Surprising he didn't propose the ammo tax first, along with ammo purchase background checks.

Hmm. Openly discriminating against poor people while catering to the rich. Nice.

Yeah, this has zero chance of going anywhere.

The current changes that are being discussed with the "bi-partisan" group in congress are funding for state level red flag laws, funding for mental health services and funding for school security. There is no discussion of any assault weapon or other firearms bans

And each one of them is another step towards complete gun control.

    No discussion??

    Taxing a Constitutionally protected Right?
SCOTUS has already set a precedence on such activities.
    Not gonna happen.

At this point the specter of a shooting is about all they have left to scare the soccer moms with. The Ds have to appear to be doing something. The question is how relevant will any action appear versus the ouch at the check out register and gas pump.

Yup, I can hear them now:

We are paying $20.00 a gallon and a steak is $45.00 but they got those scary guns out of………..What!? Another shooting at (insert school, mall, church etc)…..that’s not supposed to happen!??

Gay marriage happened. Women in combat happened. Non gender birth certificates, driver's licenses and passports happened.

Perhaps I could have used another word than discussion but the group in congress that is supposedly working together to get a bill that might get enough people to sign on to has already stated that there will be no bans on firearms.. Everyone else can "discuss" what they want but it's not happening.

Everything is pointing towards encouraging state level red flag laws, mental health and school.security.

Kinda like paying $200 to transfer ownership of a silencer or rifle / shotgun with a short barrel. Or some other guns that shoot fast.

    Not prohibited just taxed.

You just add stuff to the NFA registry list. No need to go through Congress to do that.
