    Default Flying with a firearm

Has anyone flown from Denver to Chicago with a firearm and vise Versa? I?ll be flying there to see my sister for a week I was gonna bring my pistol with me just seeing if anybody has ever done that before and if Chicago gave you any hard times when you declared it to them.

I wouldn't even want to have a changeover in Chicago, just in case something happened.

Going there (leaving Denver) noone would care. Just do the usual declaration.
I've not done Chicago/IL but FWIW coming back from California to DIA, noone cared either.

Ill has no reciprocity with CO. While there's no issue flying with a firearm. Once in Ill who knows what may transpire. Go to the airlines website to see what they require, as well as tsa's. It's easier to check a firearm in, than board a plane with nail clippers

Your problem isn't flying to Chicago with a firearm. Your problem is LANDING in Chicago with a firearm. As Kazoo said, IL has no reciprocity with CO. IL -- and especially the city of Chicago -- does not recognize that you, as an individual citizen, have a right to said firearm unless they say you do, hence their Firearm Owners ID. Heller didn't get rid of their FOID.

I’ve flown PUB to ORD (and back) via United/SkyWest without issues, but I have an HR218 card, not a CO CHP. I just declare my unloaded firearm to the ticketing agent who has me sign the firearms declaration form, place it next to my locked case in my Non-TSA compliant Sampsonite hard sided locking suitcase and off we go…

Then all you need to do is check it in at the ticket counter. They'll call tsa, who will move you to another area, log & check it in.
