    Default Denver's Illegal Gun Problem

    https://kdvr.com/news/local/illegal-...alarming-rate/

""Illegal firearms is our biggest problem in our city," Denver Police Chief Paul Pazen said."

"The number of illegal firearms recovered from the streets of Denver has significantly increased."

"Denver's police chief said there is a direct correlation between the number of illegal firearms and violent crime."

Wouldn't it be more accurate to say illegally obtained guns are a problem? Or stolen guns used in crime?

The person in possession of the firearm commits the crime, not the gun.

Is a stolen car an illegal Honda?

    So...drug use...homelessness...people being attacked...gangs....are not the problem.

That sounds discriminatory... aren't they merely "undocumented"? But maybe that's their point, they want them ALL registered and documented.

If they weren't already, how do they know if they are illegal?

Illegal gun means nothing. Is it illegal because it is used in a crime? Because it is held by someone that is prohibited from possessing one? Are they stolen or obtained by other illegal methods?

It is an intentionally vague term meant to scare the uninformed and demonize all firearms.

It's my understanding that nearly all of the handguns recovered from violent criminals were stolen property, not the result of straw transactions, homemade build kits, or an out of state pipeline.

Perhaps offering a tax credit on gun safe purchases along with PSAs about not leaving guns in your car overnight might help reduce those numbers a bit.
