Illinois man charged after shooting himself during dream about burglary

While in a stupor from the nighttime terror, Dicara "retrieved his .357 Magnum Revolver and shot at who he believed was the intruder."

"When he fired, he shot himself and apparently woke up from the dream," the sheriff's office said.

Dicara was charged with possessing a firearm with a revoked Firearm Owners Identification card, which is required in Illinois, as well as reckless discharge of a firearm, the sheriff's office said.

That's a new one. At least it wasn't another "cleaning my gun" accident.

This is a weird one for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if, assuming the story is accurate, there was an insomnia drug involved.

The $150,000 bond seems high based on the bonds I've been seeing for violent offenders recently, but that's a topic for another thread. I do wonder why the FOID was revoked though...
    Never complain; never explain.

To their credit, the NSA is the only agency of government that listens to the American people.

That was the first thing I thought about when I read how much that bond was set to. I can't recall the number of times I've seen <$50,000 bonds set for individuals who were intentionally violent towards others.

Interestingly enough someone posted on the FALFiles a couple days ago that a friend had done this same thing. Said his friend slept with a 1911 under his pillow and shot himself in the leg while in some sort of dream state. Either this is the same guy and the details are muddy or two different people shot themselves under similar circumstances within the same week.
