    Default Bad Bear Blasted

    https://www.9news.com/article/life/a...e-635c45dd85a7

400 pound bear illegally enters Steamboat home.

Homeowner responds with 9 rounds of .40 S&W.

Bear is carried out feet first.

Let that be a lesson to all you scofflaw bruins! Don't mess with man, we have thumbs!

I don’t blame him one bit, but I also don’t believe him.
There is little chance that bear charged at him. When he was speaking it seems like he added that sentence to his story to assure he was clear that felt like he was acting in self defense.

I’d almost certainly have done the same thing, just spoken less.

I've seen plenty of hunting videos of bears getting shot by various things only for them to turn and charge whoever shot them. Getting shot makes them pissy...

Mauldin said he's noticed the frequency of bear encounters in town this summer.

"There seems to have been a significant escalation of bears entering homes this summer that seems to be more prevalent than previous seasons," he said. ?It would be helpful, in my opinion, if CPW could escalate their efforts in trapping these bears.?

Fukkin moron, lock your door, you live in the bears hood. Instead of asking .gov to get involved and kick the bear out of his hood, be a good neighbor and discourage the bears from entering your home uninvited.

    Okay, boomer.

You obviously don't understand that the government is here to protect us from all perils, all the time.

Jeez, listen to some NPR once in a while.

I'll repeat this as a PSA and I'm aware some of you have heard this before, common sense bear encounter precautions.

With the increasing news of Human/Bear encounters, a few things are encouraged. During dog walks or hiking, take along a Pepper spray product just in case, and wear some small bells on your gear or clothing that will signal your approach, bears do not like to be surprised!
The second thing is to recognize your surroundings. By observing bear "Scat' (turds), you might be able to ID them using dietary forensics.

Most Brown and Black bears will have remains of nuts and berries in their scat while Grizzly bear scat might have tiny bells in it, and it smells like pepper.
