Default Federal Tracking Of Gun Sales

    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/credit-...gress-letters/

Elizabeth Warren and others sent a letter to credit card companies requesting their backing of a new merchant code for firearm sellers.

""The creation of a new [merchant category code] for gun and ammunition retail stores would be the first step towards facilitating the collection of valuable financial data that could help law enforcement in countering the financing of terrorism efforts," the letter says."

"A merchant category code, they wrote, "could make it easier for financial institutions to monitor certain types of suspicious activities including straw purchases and unlawful bulk purchases that could be used in the commission of domestic terrorist acts or gun trafficking schemes.""

"Supporters say such a code could be a useful tool to help law enforcement identify bad actors by spotlighting potentially suspicious purchasing patterns..."

It would also make it much easier for credit card companies to decline purchases depending on their policies defining "suspicious".

This information could and likely would be shared with federal government and others such as insurance companies and added to background checks.

Cartels use credit cards to buy their hardware?
    Only Dems would think that.

Use cash for purchases. That will make Libs head blow up.

Does the BATFE use credit cards when they make purchases to purposefully let them "walk"?

Don't they already track purchases via 4473's? It's already well known that they only prosecute somewhere around 1% of straw purchases so what difference would a credit card code do in that respect.

Like some of you have suggested, means to track legal purchases already exist. Occasionally they are used to identify and prosecute illegal activity like straw purchases. This isn't about that. This has nothing to do with criminal behavior. This is about giving credit card companies the ability to decline commerce between people. The politicians can claim what a private business does is their own business. Criminals still gonna criminal.

Exactly. They will then be encouraged to do so through incentives or punished for not doing it.

This is not about crime, it is about power. The power to control people's lives.

The overall idea is to eventually eliminate the illicit economy. Cash must be eliminated as a form of barter to allow the full control of your life.

I'm starting to see why the IRS thinks they need all those double-naught spies.
