Gun stores are sporting goods stores or hardware store.

F visa, Mastercard, Amex, discover, etc. None of these codes should even exist. All they need to know is who and amount to approve payments.

I feel like we 2A supporters are in a vise that is slowly being squeezed. I keep thinking the thing is going to keep getting tighter until we get some judicial relief, if we can hang on that long. God knows we need legislative relief.

    It passed on Friday.

    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/credit-...erchant-codes/

"This approval is an important step towards improving coordination with law enforcement and preventing gun violence," Senator Elizabeth Warren told CBS News in a statement. "In order for this new merchant code to be maximally effective, every financial institution and payment system needs to step up and put it to use."

Watch for Amalgamated Bank to be the first to ban sales of guns and ammo. Others will follow suit, likely setting monthly limits first.

The next thing will be insurance companies raising rates on homeowners and health coverage, due to "high risk", citing ammo storage for fire, gun in home for liability and gun suicide stats for health.

Other punishments for being and evil gun owner include not getting loans, raised interest on existing credit cards and denial of new ones. Reduced services on all bank accounts, new fees and outright denial to opening new accounts.

Applying for a job? Red flag on the background check, terrorist. Want to fly? Nope. Ride a train? Rent a car or get a hotel room? Hit the bricks, killer.

Once on the list, why can't Kroger charge you more for groceries or Valero for gasoline?

Too much data in too many hands is a bad thing. Especially when many of those hands think you need to live your life the way they say, not the way you want.

    Sure.

That works until banks refuse to accept cash deposits from gun stores and other merchants of death.

On line purchases are rather difficult to accomplish with cash.
Fortunately firearms parts businesses remain coded as "general merchandise"

Online stores may not take cash, but they take prepaid cards...

Buy prepaid card with cash, use prepaid card to buy ammo online.

I know you are not going to accept this but companies like RMR bullets have said they wont use the "new coding"....................
It appears (And Warren seems to confirm) that this is a voluntary thing........ and so with Companies like RMR refusing to use it and then the Credit Card companies have to also agree to it.
My CC is from a local Credit Union and so I'll dump them if they start it.............

I do not in anyway agree with this but your "dominoes theory" is far fetched.
If the Dems want to identify and punish gun-owners, they will and they will do it directly.
And not some indirect, thru numerous companies that have to cooperate and then with questionable data, means.

Want an eye opener? Call your credit card company and ask them for a copy of the cardholder agreement. They send it free of charge.

I get your points and they are valid... today.

The coding is voluntary until it isn't. The companies may refuse, in which case their banks will stop doing business with them. If the banks do not act, legislative or regulating bodies will.

You will quit your credit union but is isn't the local banks that are onboard with this. It is Visa and MasterCard, not Westerra. There can be a lot of pressure exerted on smaller banks from Visa and from the federal regulating agencies.

Never underestimate the determination of leftists in their quest to control your life.

They are trying every legislative session to overtly ban private ownership of firearms. Look at Edgewater and Hannah Gay-Keao. She is a zealot and has gained influence over the board.

They are also finding these sneaky, backdoor efforts to have merit as well.

Just because you have a great quarterback, that doesn't mean the running game is ineffective. The are determined to push their agenda through and thus gain control over your life, by all means at their disposal.

Remember that they are relentless. Think about gay marriage. As recently as 2010, President Obama was still on the fence. Twelve years later, leftist are insisting 6 year olds are to be taught how to be transgender, and attempting to destigmatize child molestaion as a healthy sexual attraction.

Look at the huge turn around on oil. Oil used to be an incredibly powerful lobby. Decades of propaganda had allowed the mainstreaming of climate disaster ideology. That has led to the foreseeable end to gasoline powered cars in the very near future.

What do these have to do with gun control?

The left's uncompromising pursuit of their agendas.
