    Default VOTE 2022

    I got my blue book.

As usual, I think NO on just about everything.

I am not sure who to vote for.

Watching television ads, it seems everyone running for everything is the Devil incarnate and will lead us to the path of ruin.

I have only seen two ads that have positive messages- why you should vote FOR them instead of AGAINST their opponent.

I understand that fear is a great motivator, likely the strongest humans face daily.

However, I think fear is a poor persuasive technique for voting. I don't want to vote out of fear, I want to vote with hope.

The best ad I have seen is Jenna Griswold. She used proper nomenclature. She said Republican, Democrat and unaffiliated.

It drives me bonkers when someone says the are independent when they are actually unaffiliated. I know not to take them seriously since if they were actually independent, that would mean registered with the Independence Party.

On the liquor laws I will vote no.

As a small (very small) business owner, I don't was to see corporatism take over another industry.

I think one store, one owner is a good thing. Same with wine only available in a locally owned store.

I would hate to see Kroger get a tighter grip on this area.

Is only by an act of government that you can create a monopoly.

Yep. In Washington you can buy all liquor in the grocery stores.. Which is great if all you want in life is Jack Daniels and Yellowtail wine. They then run the ma and pa shops out of business for the most part.

When I lived in Seattle 30 years ago, it was beer and wine in grocery stores and liquor in the "package store", the state run shops you had to seek out since there was no signage to indicate what they were.

Hmm, not sure if only one store thing will work right...seems to be a license cartel thing where only the deep pockets can go - at least for larger cities.

But part of me is thinking; ok - what about one license per city or at least county? And I am not a big fan of mega corps having all of the control...

If you are a big enough company you work around those limitations by having a store within a store like CostCo did / does in the past. So my ranking is

Gov control < crooked control < mega corps < local Mom & Pop < being able to make what ever drinks you want...

Some would say my first and second item are about the same; and I would have to respond - yep kind of close call there

"Is only by an act of government that you can create a monopoly."

Carnegie Steel, Standard Oil, American Tobacco, AT&T, even Facebook would disagree with you.

U.S. govt took action to end the above monopolies though.

Yes on liquor ballot issues. Deregulation and ending protectionism is good. Let the free market decide where and how much.

Many states already allow any license holder to sell all types and there are plenty of small businesses thriving. Limiting to only one store makes profitability difficult.

No on all tax or fees or TABOR overrides.

    YES on 121

Income tax rate reduction from 4.55% to 4.4%. Obvious reason.

    No on 122

Access to psychedelic substances. We don't need more drug addicts coming to the state.
