Default Need a new AR Handrail...

    Anyone got advice one brands/lengths?

Right now I'm looking at a Daniel Defense LITE or Omega in either 9 or 7 inches.

I also know LaRue makes very good handrails....

    any input is appreciated.

KAC RAS or DD Omega for a drop in carbine are pretty top notch.

spend the money, cry once. buy LaRue.

I bought DD before and recently Midwest Industries. my first MI wasn't drilled or tapped for the screws required to put the rail on the gun (2 piece free float), they sent me another one, got it on and the corner cracked in the aluminum so now with my VFG the rail will slightly rotate (roughly 10 degrees total from center--5 each side).
sent them an email today and they are supposed to send me a new one.

lesson learned. buy good stuff from the start and you won't have to worry about it again.

don't buy ARMS products. they are crap.

Did you have a negative experience with DD Sniper? I've always had a high opinion of their products, but if you've had a different experience I'd like to hear about it.

Bravo Company has the DD 7" Omega rail for $179 till tonight.

Well they did, they are sold out.

Myself, for the same money ($247), I am gonna get the LaRue 7", but would be sorely tempted to get the Omega if I found it again @ $179

Oh seriously? I can't believe I missed that. For $179 I would've bought that up in a heartbeat.

DD makes great rails. I have a 7.0 Lite on one of my ARs. Love it. Larue is also top notch but it won't let you have a continuous top rail, DD will. I like continuous top rails from both an aesthetic and functional perspective. So for the high end I vote DD.

I also have a Midwest Industries 2 piece free-float for my dedicated .22 AR. It's a nice unit for for the price and intended use, but as Sniper7 said, they are not of the same quality. Be careful not to over-torque the screws. To me MI gear is a nice alternative to chinese crap if the intended rifle really isn't worth the 'good stuff'.

I had one and wasn't a fan of the screws on the side as they would sometimes snag on things and I thought the finish was a little weak on them. just seemed like the finish would wear off a little quicker on that rail than on other rails for some reason.
it is strong, relatively light and could definitely handle the abuse, but after playing with the LaRue stuff can't go back.

from now on, if I want to put money into a rifle I will be getting LaRue, if I don't want to put a lot into it, YHM rails. YHM just doesn't have the nice black finish that I like, but the quality is great, I have had several guns, and still have 2 currently with YHM rails and they are solid, finish is good (just not the dark black) easy to install and you can't beat the price.
