Default Is Arizona the new Colorado?

Kari Lake loses to Katie Hobbs. Both senators are liberal democrats though Sinema isn't quite the radical leftist I thought she'd be. The only bright spot is in the US House...republicans lead 6 to 3 for now. Republicans hold very narrow majorities in the Arizona house and senate. Arizona is starting to look like Colorado did in 2008 after Obama was elected.

Texas is still red but I hold my breath every election.

It's happening every where, every state. The masses of people in the big cities simply out number those that remain living in the country.
Laws aren't "preventable" measures. IOW, more gun laws won't stop mass shootings.

Illegal immigration has helped AZ turn blue. I fear the same will happen to Texas. They can't bus them out fast enough.

I'm pretty surprised by these midterms. I've never seen the country in worse shape yet the people (supposedly) voted in the same. Since Biden has been in office I've felt ok that at least he'd be a one-term president and that the dems would be beat after this disaster. Now, I don't know. Either there's heavy manipulation going on or people have collectively lost their minds.

A lot of young people voting for the first time in 2024 and 2028 will have grown up with Obama and Biden as their presidents. They will have reached voting age being indoctrinated everywhere by the far left, radical agenda. All they'll know will be "my pronouns are" and that gender fluidity are the norms according to their indoctrinators.

You can only blame election manipulation on so much.

The blue agenda isn't taking hold everywhere...most states...but not all. I'm happy to say that in Oklahoma not a single county voted blue...not even the bigger metro counties of Tulsa and Oklahoma City. As a matter of fact, in most races here the democrat candidate barely got 35%. There were a couple in the low 40% range. Many other states had overwhelming republican wins. The problem is, those states don't mean much on a national level in a presidential race. They're all relatively low population states with few electoral votes.

States rights issues are going to become more and more important in the coming years. If we don't elect a strong republican president by 2028 things are going to get really ugly.

The writing has been on the wall for AZ for several years. It perplexed me to some degree why some of our forum members thought they had "escaped" Colorado's issues by moving there- you just got a delay.

    My thoughts on the election:

    1. The GOP is the best possible organization for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, while the DEMs will support a flawed candidate to ensure their guy gets elected.

    2. The GOP are experts at fielding "special" candidates who lack broad appeal with the voting groups who decide elections. Bobert seems to be an example- good on gun rights, but an AOC equivalent elsewhere (sorry Bobert fans).

    3. Regardless of what you think about him, Trump is toxic to a large portion of the electorate, and they vote based on that perception against anything he is remotely associated with. I suspect he will tank the GA run-off by making his POTUS declaration. This is too bad, since I thought his policies were pretty good, and I could ignore the stupid ego- Many can't.

    4. Abortion is an unpredictable third rail. Even my wife, who absolutely opposes "lifestyle whim" abortions, has grave concerns about the direction the GOP-led states are headed on this area.

I think this was the biggest problem this past election. In full disclosure, I voted for him both times and I liked what he did while in office, but his ego, his personality, his need to attack people has turned off a lot of people. The unaffiliated voters decided this election and his cult of personality is what they voted against. The AZ republican governor candidate could have won without his endorsement.

I only hope he stays out of and away from the Georgia run off. The republications can win or lose it without his assistance, but most assuredly, will lose it with his assistance.

There are many books written about the appeal of leftism. It is attractive to anyone one who feels they are in the minority on any issue because it values emotion over pragmatism.

"Vote for us" the left says, "we'll take care of you". Equality of outcome, not equality of opportunity.

Liberals are utopians, promising rainbows and puppies for all.

What many don't understand is the tradeoff for security is freedom.

The shift from individual freedom to total government control has happened many times throughout history.

I agree with all the points above. It's the Trumpies who lost the mid term elections and most took a serious beating, never to run again. I was intrigued by Kari Lake's approach but even right before the election she prattled on about how she didn't expect the election to be conducted fairly and wouldn't accept the results (unless she won, of course). Really?

Lauren Boebert barely squeezed through when the expectation was that she would win by a wide margin. In the past year she has become more polished as a thinker and speaker. But unless she focuses more on real issues of importance to her constituents and less on Trumpist antics, she'll be gone.

A big issue is that younger voters have never known a competent, eloquent and trustworthy Republican politician. We so sorely need another first term Ronald Reagan.
