    Default Thanksgiving blizzard of '79?

Funny that everyone (who is old enough and who lived here) remembers the Christmas Eve blizzard of 1982 but for some reason we don't hear much about the Thanksgiving blizzard of 1979. It was one of the worst ones I remember growing up, everything just came to a standstill. Who else is old enough to remember it?

Folks lived in Omaha and I was in Trinidad Colorado J?nior College. Attempted to drive West on I-80 without getting pranged. failed.

I remember. I made a lot of money (as a kid) shoveling walks, driveways, etc.

We were hosting Thanksgiving in a little house in Golden on North Table Mountain.
No one could make it, so we watched the Coors Brewery out the front window, and ate and ate and ate.

We had a Ford Hi-Boy 4X4 and volunteered to pick up nurses, and get them to their hospitals. Ya, I remember that one.

    I was 13, made about $50 shoveling in our neighborhood...at $5 a driveway...

We moved here in 1979, and my grandparents came (from Florida) for Thanksgiving.

It's long enough now that I barely remember it, and as I was a teenager then, it probably fell on my dad to get my grandparents to the airport (stapleton) and back home.

As I recall, while it was big, it wasn't as big as some of the later blizzards I have participated in.

But it is, still, to this day, what I think about when Thanksgiving comes around every year.

What's really sad is that in the next blizzard, I will be expected to work from home.
