OnX or gaiagps are my go to apps for off-roading and overlanding. You have to pay for both, but it’s cheap compared to getting stuck on a dead end trail in the middle of the night or having to turn around and backtrack a few hours cause you missed a turn….
If you take the time to download a particular area on each app, you won’t need cell signal to know exactly where you are and what’s around you. Another plus, is the layering of the map. You will always know if you are on private, or public land, if you can camp, shoot or do whatever you fancy, legally, where you stop. Invaluable.
