Yep... That's why I wound up here. WY was definitely on the short list but the cold is just too much for me. I lived there for a few years back in the late 70s and graduated from high school there. Great state for guns and freedom-loving people.

You guys with your cold and windy. I have lived my entire life (minus 8 years in the Corps) on both sides of the Colorado/Wyoming Border. From Golden Gate Canyon, Nederland, Peak to Peak, Coal Creek Canyon, Golden, Weld county, etc

The weather from Golden to Wheatland is pretty much the same. It is Windy along the Front Range alot. You may not notice it as much because you live in a neighborhood with houses and fences or in some condo complex, but its windy. I think the 7 county metro area gets more snow than we do in Southern Wyoming.

I didnt say Cheyenne. I said Southern Wyoming. We live over 70 miles from Cheyenne. Who wants to live in a city? Yuck!!!

Those numbers dont look that far apart anyway. Its like watching the talking heads on the news complain when it snows or rains. They live in a condo or house with a garage, drive to a parking garage and walk into work. Oh how hard a life that is.



My post was not trying to discourage you from thinking about Wyoming. I think that the weather is close to the same. Laramie, Cheyenne and some other areas are higher elevation and get more weather. We are South East wyoming and its pretty mild. Obviously if you want warm then Oklahoma, Arizona, etc are a better option. IF you are ok with Colorado Front Range weather then parts of Wyoming will be a good fit. (if you can find a job or work remotely.)

There's nothing wrong with taking weather into account when choosing a place to live. Especially when retired and wanting to spend as much time as possible outdoors. I see nothing wrong with not liking the wind and bitter cold of a place like WY. I lived in Casper...I know what it's like in winter and it's not pleasant...for me anyway. On the rare occasion the wind slows down a bit, people fall over. No different than people not wanting to go somewhere like OK because of the threat of severe weather. That, and for some odd reason, people think OK is an ugly state. But that's OK...it keeps a lot of "undesirables" out. I bet people in WY feel the same way.

On the other hand, WY has a lot of freedom-loving people and hasn't been completely overrun by leftists. That's a big plus.

And the humidity. And bugs and snakes.

No place is perfect. I want 77 degrees every day. 30-40 percent humidity. A bit of rain at night to keep things nice and green. No snow!

Low taxes and small government. Cheap land, nice people and pretty girls.

If anyone knows where this paradise exists, please let me know.

Lol so unfortunate to say but true, thats California in the earlier part of the 1900s..... CA weather is definitely very desirable, however its all the other stuff that isnt.... which is a real bummer. Weather wise and geographically speaking CA is a beautiful place but the lefties and lunatics ruin it and are destroying it with the horrendous over population, along with the crazy leftists ideology....
