    Dumping a bunch of refined kerosene/diesel fuel/JP-4 in the intake of an engine can cause things to go haywire and it can also damage various sensors.

    Nope. I think it's stupid that they told the world that they didn't dump fuel or hit it when they know it was filming.

    Dump fuel on it. Then drop a flare on it. The flare is a block of magnesium. Flare hit one propeller blade and damaged it. I was told when I worked these systems to be careful. Supervisor said the flare would completely burn through the runway. I just worked the avionics, munitions troops handled the flares,bombs, etc.

    I think I remember seeing some video of the Aussies doing that in the F-111 during an air show. Pretty awesome!

    The test pilots for the f22 used to shoot flares at each other during their mock dog fights. It worked for about 6 months until someone started noticing burn marks. There was no specific protocol against it at the time. Now there is.
