I lived in Wyo in the mid to late 1970's during the heavy construction boom for power plants and soda ash plants. Rock Springs/Green River first and ended up in Bridger Valley. Lots of history but the weather did suck.

If you're in Jackson Hole, get the burger at Million Dollar Cowboy Bar.

Having farmed over 30 years in NW Colorado, I came to realize that the high winter/spring winds happen because Wyoming either sucks or it blows.

Kansas is windy because Nebraska sucks and Oklahoma blows.

If it wasn't for the colder/longer winters I would move to Cody for retirement. Maybe by that time, global warming will fix that.

Coldest place I've ever been in my life was Gillette, WY. -30f w/-60f wind chill. Thank God I was only there a couple of days to install some telecom equipment - in a little unheated metal shed, with ice on the inside walls and more bullet holes than I could count. No desire to live where the air hurts my face, it's too damn cold HERE for my old ass.

Feb 1979... I spent a week in Gillette opening a new K-Mart store. I worked at the store in Casper and some of us went up there to train the new store employees. I was a senior in HS then and graduated from Kelly Walsh HS in Casper that year. Went into the AF in July. Memories...

Oh, yeah... It was really, really cold there. Probably 1/2" of ice on the window in the bathroom. There was a frost line with really heavy frost in the room from the floor to about 6 or 8 inches up on the walls on the front and back side of the room (exterior walls). I don't think it got above -20 the whole week.
