Default I am new here so don?t know my way around here yet, plus old, and not too computer friendly

I am interested in purchasing a ar type weapon, gen 12 to be exact. With all the stuff going on about the government making them illegal, not so sure I should pursue it. It will take 12-20 weeks to ship, obviously I would pay for it up front. They charge a 30% restocking fee for canceled orders. A lot can happen in that time frame, as far legality of owning or purchasing one. Thought this would be the place to ask, should I be concerned ? Thanks

I haven’t heard any credible estimates on when or if the bill that is circulating will pass. My uninformed gut reaction is that it will pass. I can’t even guess at a timeline. I don’t think I’d risk my money on something that far out.

There are many other options out there for a 12g AR. I don’t personally have any interest in the concept, so I can’t offer any advice of which ones might be worth considering.

    Optimus, welcome.

Buy it if you want it (and can afford it- yikes! those are expensive).

So far the ban looks to have been tabled until the next legislative session. Generally speaking, when bans like this do pass they ban new sales not current ownership.

I know there are alternatives, but from what I have seen and read, the gen 12 is far and away most dependable. I’ve shot several others and failure to feed and failure to extract are “ expected”, not what I want.

Personally, i'd advise you avoid any of those 12ga AR's . IF you're going to drop some coin. Buy a benelli, beretta or one of those 940 or 930 mossbergs.

Factor in 20 weeks wait time?? screw that .
Especially with a 30% restocking fee?? Come week 15 they fold and you're out money. Or you have an emergency that has you either cancelling, or waiting another 20 weeks. Buy something with a solid company history, behind them.

Can't pass while the legislators are not in session.

You are safe from an AWB in Colo until sometime after January 2024.

Americans do not own firearms because they are legal to own. We own them so a government cannot make it illegal for you to live. The Genesis 12 looks to be a reliable Shotgun, if your concern is about the wait time, another good option is the Beretta 1301.

Just saw on 9 news they passed 4 of those gun laws, one of which is a 3 day waiting period.
