Default Polis signs all four today

18-20 purchase ban, red flag expansion, industry legal exemption removal and 3-day waiting period.

And the lawsuits will be soon to follow. Heard that Tom Mauser and the rep from RMGO got in to a shouting match on the steps of the capitol today.

Good. What happened to Mauser's son is tragic, but his multi-decade attempt to restrict the rights of same, moral and responsible citizens is offensive.

Just saw this. Makes my stomach ache but it wasn't unexpected as we have detailed and argued about in these pages.

On a brighter note, my buddy in Pueblo owes me a shiny 50 cent piece. We bet on the shield law.

50 cents versus having every gun dealer in Colorado open to lawsuits... I truly wish I had lost.

    When do they become effective?

Not that more 9 people on COAR give a rip about more restrictive gun laws, but after today, there is a high likelihood that ghost guns will also become illegal.

Looks like Oct 1 2023 for the waiting period, pending a referendum being filed. Does not apply to pre-1899 or C&R.

In some good news, a US District Court judge granted plaintiffs a preliminary injunction that prevents the new Illinois AWB and "hi-cap" magazine ban unconstitutional. He said the mags were essential to operation of the gun, therefore the magazine is basically an "arm", they're in common use and can't be banned or considered separate of the guns. Pretty important ruling. We'll see this come up on the SCOTUS schedule in the not-too-distant future.
