About the closest we have, not much activity recently.

I think there?s about three of you guys from the western slope on here.

With the majority of the population living between Fort Collins and Colorado Springs it only makes sense that the majority of the people here on the forums don?t live on the western slope.

There may be more western slope shooters on this forum than is apparent. There are some longer term members who post very occasionally, and I like hearing from them. It's understandable for people who live so far apart to dissociate, just as Front Range politicians dismiss western slope issues. But have faith that we're all in this together. When I lived there full time, I made several purchases from Front Range CO-AR members. It's a fine resource for trustworthy exchanges.

You might try regular posting of local news events on the Western Slope sub forum, and mention the forum to fellow shooters you meet there. It could generate more contacts. This is a small forum with what seems to be declining activity, but there are many experts here and it's not the sort of unruly mob that infect larger national forums.

Last week, I was at our farm outside Palisade and did some shooting on BLM land a half mile from the house. For longer sessions and more serious practice and sight-ins, the Cameo Shooting and Education Complex run by the CPW is excellent. They have been building a 1000 meter course. Not sure about the status but you might report on it. I've been a CPW volunteer for 15 years and know many of the officers, staff and volunteers in GJ. As a volunteer for Mesa County Sheriff, we can use the firearms training simulator. I shot highpower rifle for years at the Orchard Mesa Gun Club, and worked with the Grand Valley Training Club which offers various ccw and defensive shooting courses. There are other ranges more controlled than the BLM options. I avoid those when yahoo shooters are around.

Not many active on this side. Hummer is spot on with the Cameo range recommendation, good folks to meet out there as well. The forum used to have a lot more interesting information discussed, but I think our decline follows the general trend of the state as a whole.
