Students push for assault weapons ban at the Colorado State Capitol

The East High School chapter of Students Demand Action held a rally Saturday morning and called on lawmakers to pass an assault weapons ban before the legislative session ends in a little over a week.

This group really needs to find something else to occupy their time.

Ten other states have already banned assault weapons. Why is Colorado so wimpy?? asked Paula Van Dusen.

Yes, because making laws that violate the civil rights of citizens is a "strong" action.

Note that Denver mayoral candidate Mike Johnston attended the junior cabal meeting and made the following statement, so you know which side his bread is buttered:

"Every time someone comes back and tells you it's impossible, just remember that they've been telling you that for a long, long time" said Johnston.

Johnston also thanked students for pressuring lawmakers to pass a historic batch of legislation this year.

"After you all lived through the hardest year of your lives, when people said nothing can be done, you pushed this building," said Johnston.

I guess we can expect strong pro-2A support from him in the future.

I am surprised that if didn't passed. I am also surprised they passed all the ones they did. After Bruen its clearly egregious. We have to elect a lesser form of leader. One that doesn't have power tripping issues.

It's sad that all these students have been brain washed in to believing that more restrictive gun laws will stop shootings in any fashion or form. The fact remains, gun laws are NOT a preventative step in stopping more shootings.

They just want to restrict black and brown people from owning them. They seem to think they are the only ones that like guns. Your double barrel isn't a gun. Its a hunting tool and you should be ashamed for hunting but you are allowed to keep it without worry.

If the 2nd Amendment is repealed and all guns are confiscated under force of law, random shootings will decrease.

Sounds draconian? That is exactly what leftists desire and they will never stop until that is accomplished.

Leftists want to control all people. They use skin color or economic status as a tool to manipulate.

Once they disarm the "oppressors", they will disarm the oppressed.

OK so I should clarify, up until the point of repealing the 2nd Amendment, more gun laws won't prevent more shootings. After all, if laws prevented shootings, there'd be none now because many laws are broken every time there's a shooting, but yet those laws didn't prevent them from happening.
