I agree with you guys that in such a scenario I am in less than an ideal position. I also agree that getting rural is a great plan. However, I have spent six years building a business that depends on a large transient population.

As much as I desire it, living in the sticks isn't practical for me right now.

I don't foresee societal collapse as the most immediate threat that many do. I also am not fitting steel plates to the roof in case of a meteor, nor am I building a Faraday cage to keep THEM from monitoring me. Although that last one seems like the one threat that is closest to happening.

Fortunately, I love the government, have no firearms and nothing to hide. You hear me NSA? Nothing!

, just using your circumstance and examples to highlight dangers and pitfalls of residing in metrpolitan areas.

I have spent alot of time and money commuting to and from the metro area over the last 20yrs. The benefits have far outweighed the costs.

I don't care what scenario you're thinking about if the slab hasn't cracked then you ain't got enough.

To play Devil's advocate for a second (I hate the city by the way), but is it not all about perspective? Have you given any thought to the fact you and your gang could be the marauders in the city taking from those neighbors of yours who are unarmed and defenseless? There's a lot of resources concentrated in the city - you could wind up "owning" the neighborhood like Negan.

Lol. When the day comes, that?s always been my plan. Hunkering down and protecting what?s mine is lame. I?m venturing out to raid those who are less prepared.

Being proactive puts you ahead of the curve, gives you more options as "situation" progresses.

Difficult to replenish resources in the city. Once the trucks stop rolling resources become finite.

I've been very proactive regarding this stuff. I'll die a pissed off man though if I never ended up needing it for its purpose.

Kid knows where it is though, I'd feel better in death if he was using it for the purpose intended.

Don't dick around with not having back up food and ammo, etc, no matter where you live. I'm the bug in fella, and this neighborhood is not where any roving douche gang will have any success.
