    Default Kahr K40?

Im looking at either trading my CCW or selling it for one of these. I just want to know if someone has one that I can shoot before making a deal. Any thoughts on this weapon would also be appreciated!

Over the years I've owned two Kahrs, an MK9 Elite98 and an MK40 Elite98 ... I regret selling both of them.

The steel Kahrs are great little guns and if I ever went back to carrying a Kahr it would be a K40. The MKs are pretty doggone small, but the K is probably the best balance between size and shootablility. Really only reason I don't carry one now is that I prefer a double stack gun (my EDC is a Steyr S40).

Keep an eye out for the "elite" models ... the elite trigger is slightly better (and I happen to like the look of the polished slide). Also, the hogue wood grips are an excellent option. My MK9 had them and not only do they look real nice, there's just something I find comfortable about wood stocks on a steel pistol.

As for leather, since its a steel pistol and a little heavier, get a good dual loop/clip style IWB holster like the HBE DC Special (which I had for my MK9) or an UBG Striker

Never shot a K40, but got to shoot an MK40 a couple years back. What a handful. Way too little gun for that round. Made my G27 feel down right pleasant with full powered defense loads. I would imagine the K40 is easier to shoot with more handle to hold on to, but expect some above average recoil from the skiny single stack grip and light weight.
Mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be.

To add to what SA Friday said, my MK40 was a bit of a beast, but my MK9 was every bit as accurate and easy to shoot as a full size gun.

The K40 is a lot nicer to shoot than an MK (my God a PM40 must be murder to shoot).

Thanks for the input guys! I wish they made the elite in blackened stainless as that's what I will get if I buy/trade for one.

Kahr sells the elite trigger parts for like $25 or so (IIRC its the trigger, trigger spring and trigger spacer).

The elites are elite trigger + polished slide so buying a blackened stainless and installing the elite trigger will get you what you want.

After a small search I found this about the elite trigger:

All Kahr pistols come with the elite trigger except the K series and the real difference between the NYPD trigger and the elite trigger is only an 1/8th inch in length.

The elite models come with laser engraving on the slide, a polished stainless trigger, a polished feed ramp for reliability, and a beveled mag well

After looking at that HK rig you've got for sale, you're really going to find that a Kahr carries much better.
