10% for supplies and dumping of oils, not out of the ordinary. We were charging 5% back in the 80's & 90's for shop supplies. Which covered brake cleaner, shop rags, oil dry, oil & battery disposal. That sheet isn't cheap, wasn't too bad then. Forget about todays world, where everyone's under a microscope when it comes to climate and environmental oversight.

Right now it's running $38 for mobil 1 syn, filter and tax, with me doing services, maintenance, tires, brakes etc at home. The up side for me is. Have a lift, climate controlled shop and, i don't have a deadline when it needs to be off the lift, having 2 other vehicles as needed.

This was at a Phil Long dealership in Trinidad, working on a '19 Ram 3500 with a 6.7 cummins.
Get Mopar or Fleetguard filters at Genos Garage. The quickserve kits are $165 (order ahead of time.) Baldwin or Donaldson also acceptable. I'd avoid WIX, their micron spec is not as good as Fleetguard.

That's insane they charge $480 for an air, oil, fuel, and fuel/water filter.

It's tricky to get the oil filter out of the 19+ Ram, this and a gallon ziplock bag help if you're inclined to do your own.

You need a 28mm socket for the engine compartment fuel filter. https://www.genosgarage.com/product/...et-13290/tools

You can make you're own no mess rear filter catch. https://hdrams.com/forum/index.php?t...al-tool.12577/

Honestly, I just don't trust the dealer to do it right. Likely they put the wrong air filter in anyway. There's quite the debacle over using the correct filter. For all 19+ Cummins trucks it's 53034051AB and accept NO SUBSTITUTE.

BTW, the 19+ Cummins cannot use 15W-40 oil due to hydraulic lifters. 10W-30 dino/blend or 5W-40 full synth. I run Rotella T6 5W-40 year round. 2020 3500 HO.

Curious just where those fee’s end up.

Sorta like the Plastic bag fee- 10 cents per bag, out of which 6 cents goes to the local municipality and the remaining 4 cents goes to the retailer.

Just how is that saving the planet?
With a vast majority of the food containers made from plastic, it still astounds me this (paying for bags) is a thing.

The driver is likely making a decent wage and the waste oil company has all it's bills to pay as well, regarding transportation and disposal.

$75 is likely excessive but the shop is paying thousands of dollars to deal with the waste. Someone has to pay for it.
How does Jiffy Lube and other places manage to get by without charging a disposal fee then?

That cost is offset by the cost of the engines they have to replace..

Can't you get a synthetic oil change at Walmart for less than $75?

I had 180 gallons of waste oil picked up this morning. Cost me $50. We charge $5 per vehicle for waste fluid disposal, and make a little at the end of the month. If a dealership is charging 15 times that amount, that's profiteering.

I've taken waste oil to the local O'Reilly Auto Parts store for years... they just have me leave it on the counter and say thanks... no charge. Maybe I should tip them next time.
