    Default Mile High Nationals

We decided not to go even though looks like last one for this venue. Few twinges of regret talking to a couple buddies who are on the way there.

Any members attending take lots of pics and post them here. TV coverage just doesn't do the event justice.

Britany Force wowed the sellout crowd during the final qualifying session, making the fastest run ever at Bandimere Speedway with a pass of?3.724 at 337.33?in her 11,000-horsepower Monster Energy dragster.

I predict no additional records will be set in tomorrow's forecasted heat.

It was a good day with my family. We were 4 rows up in section 3 and the weather was perfect.
Got pretty misty after the last pair of Top Fuels went down the track and the announcer said “The last pair of Top Fuels cars to go down this track”*.
Looking at my youngest who is now 32 and realizing the Mile High Nats were the very first car races I took him to at 4 years old.
    We have gone every year.

Looking out across the highway at the housing encroaching, remembering when any houses were distant points of light. Sad, another American icon gone.

Fuck “progress”. It’s like Liberalism-it destroys everything.

*finals are today so there will be a few more passes

@electroman1729 - Thank you for posting those.

End of an era. Very sad.

    Too cool, thanks Electronman.

It is indeed the end of an era. Bandimere is/was the last stop on East Colfax. My buddies and I would ride Colfax from Havana, take off our mirrors, and race on Friday nights. Paint your dial-in on the bike and go! I still have my trophy winning with a 17.x (second) time, probably 85MPH, one Friday night, on my Honda CB360T.

That was when I was like 18 years old. I am now 60.

I still receive their magazine every year.
