    Default Hurricane Hillary

Anybody in the path of this storm, or have friends/family in the impacted area?

My son and I were just visiting my old college dorm roommate last weekend in Sierra Madre (near Pasadena). Little did we know that this thing was inbound. He is currently in the last stages of completing his preparations.

supposedly we're on the outskirts of this one. Unless it shifts one way, or another. Our daughter on the other hand well, they're still dealing with the last rain's flooding that washed out the 2 small bridges over the river. The bridges were, or use to be a short narrow span into the hills of the southern sierra nevadas. So they're keeping an eye on things.

My sister lives in San Diego.

Downgraded to a Category 1. We might get lucky.

We? Most of us live in Colorado. Some in Oklahoma, New Mexico and Arizona.

Every time there is a major disaster, they raise the insurance premiums. Florida has the highest insurance premiums due to hurricanes. When I left there the only house insurance was available from the state owned company. If California gets a devastating storm, we will end up paying too. I think Katrina was the breaking point.

This storm is 600 miles wide.

Looks less ominous than the storm we had in the metro area last week. Click image for larger version.

A friend in San Diego sent this picture of the Sunset Saturday night.
    Clouds starting to come in.
And, yes, that is the actual view from his front window.

I keep thinking of all those homeless in Vegas that live in those big concrete culverts. I was at Edwards AFB in 1979 and there were temporary lakes in the desert with millions of birds. All kinds of birds.
