When the Congress and Country are so evenly divided in two opposing polarized parties, then a small minority can move the direction of politics.
Contrary to the principles of democracy ruled by the majority, a small minority controls the Congress.

Funding the government with an approved budget is one of the basic functions of Congress. If you think not funding the government is in the reasonable domain of "checks and balances", I am not sure what grade of tinfoil you're using, but it's pretty thick and compressing your brain.

A "budget" that doesn't actually consider revenue isn't a budget at all. And that's what they're fighting about, where they should spend money that doesn't exist.

You actually WANT them to "fund" all the bullshit waste every year with money we don't have? Some wear tinfoil, others are neck deep in sand.

Damn right I'm happy anytime there's even one second they're not putting us further in debt.

Where in my statement did I say I support deficit spending?

Instead playing last minute gamesmanship and vomiting talking points, the spending levels should be hashed-out in the mid-cycle process- that's where budgetary discipline is supposed to be executed. I put that blame firmly on the heads of both parties. Political posturing on or after September 30th is pathetic and stupid.

Spot on. Term limits might be worth considering too. The last couple of years have shown that.

I really liked the temporary guy closing the session and slamming the gavel, he did it with Gusto!

What this country need is more than 2 party…. The one we have don’t represent The People anymore…. If we had 3 or 4, then politicians will have to compromise with each other and build a coalition to win something. I hope this happen soon.

That's not how it works. The moment you create a third party (much less a fourth, a fifth, etc.), it means all a party has to do is get the largest plurality so they drive splits between the folks who oppose them. Clinton's campaign deliberately egged on Perot's campaigns in both '92 and '96 to split the non-Democrat vote and it worked. What got us where we are today was the fact the non-Democrats can't help sniping at each other while the Dems hold firm in their unity. In primary debates, you rarely see Dems snipe at each other, they just compete for who can call the Republicans the worst names. In GOP primary debates, the candidates actually snipe at each other (while the Dems sit back and giggle).
