My range trips always include large plastic trash bags!
I hate those shitbirds who leave their trash on the lanes.

NO RANGE FOR YOU!!!.....NEXT!!!
Very informative, thanks for posting this!
That whole trash issue gives shooters a bad name.
Rampart Range has been sketchy as long as I can remember. When I worked for the Forest Service doing clear cutting and beetle kill we frequently had to stop work because assholes were shooting all over the place and that was late 70's early 80's.

IIRC they closed Rampart Range about 10 - 12 years ago after somebody got killed there.
I went there one time, probably around 2005 - 2006. Never again. So many idiots engaging in stupid, reckless behavior. Between that and all the trash left behind it really gave non-shooters a negative image of shooters.

The farther I go from Denver, the less I see trash and stupid behavior. I won't go to the shooting areas near me anymore. It's too dangerous; the last time was a group of people who didn't speak English thought it was a 360 degree firing line.
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

Somewhere just before it was closed, in partnership with the Forest Service, several organizations including troops from Fort Carson, The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and other groups did a full clean up at the Range. As I recall, we filled 2 40-yard dumpsters and the backs of 1/2 dozen pickups with all of the trash we collected. Just 1 week later you couldn't tell we'd ever touched the place.
While I haven't visited Rampart Range Road in over 10 years, around 15 years ago I went there and parked in a small parking lot and hiked down the hill. On my way back I heard talking from the parking lot then shots being fired. When a couple of shots ricocheted near me I got behind a huge boulder and started yelling up the hill that I was down there - I know they heard me but then the shots continued. At least one shot bounced off the other side of the boulder from me. I drew my sidearm and was preparing to return aimed fire when they up and left. Best for all of us. I wasn't able to get a description of the people or their vehicle so there was no use in reporting it.
