Not sure why you would need nuclear weapons to take out a satellite or how that even makes sense.. but I guess the apparatus needs to keep someone somewhere scared.

Like those capabilities don't exist all ready, by multiple countries. The media is gung ho against anything russia right now, but they are not the only ones in space. Anyone remember when china took out a satellite "because we can" a couple years ago and all the other nations were "thanks for making a bunch of space debris threatening other satellites"? Anybody? How about the "rods of god" we supposedly have. Our 747 airborne laser platform. Do you really think we don't have space to space capable weaponry with all the heavy lift rocket launches we put into orbit each year with large military payloads?

Cripes if republicans would stick together like democrats do then most of this crap wouldn't happen. But, UNIPARTY, both sides corrupt/blackmailed/compromised. Nuclear blast 200 miles above Kansas would take out electrical grid over a good portion of the USA. A couple of Nuclear blasts/EMPs over the east coast and west coast would be disastrous.

Nothing I've read indicates a weapon is in orbit at this point. Only that Russia may have something in the works. And it's not like this is a new idea.

What I'm curious about is how they think that's gonna destroy our satellites without destroying others, either thru the blast or with the added amounts of debris that would be created. Maybe the Russians know they can't match us in a conventional war so taking out our sat comms might level the playing field for them a bit. Put us all back into the "stone age" (so to speak) of communications ability. They do have a knack for relying on low-tech to do a lot of things.

They launched it last week. USSF payload was launched yesterday. My guess is it has been neutralized.
