    Some good points and some entertaining points. Thanks for playing along. I was rooting around in the cabinet where I store projectiles and found 1100 or so 142SMK's from back when I was shooting a .260. That discovery might have made the decision for me. I do also like the reduced recoil over a .308 for those occasions when I might shoot it in a LR match.

    308.

    So much easier to troubleshoot.

    125 TNTs for close up stuff. 175 Matchkings or 185 Juggs for distance.

    You are going to want those 142s for Cals boltgun.

    How big a pain in the arse do you suppose it would be to develop a subsonic .308 load? Impossible in an AR-10?

    AA 1680, 220g SMKs, a 1.5 ounce buffer and a JP flat wire spring.
