Default Colorado Supreme Court removes Trump from 2024 ballot

    https://www.cnn.com/webview/politics...23?cid=ios_app

    What we're covering
JUST IN: In a stunning and unprecedented decision, the Colorado Supreme Court removed former President Donald Trump from the state?s 2024 ballot, ruling that he isn?t an eligible presidential candidate because of the 14th Amendment?s ?insurrectionist ban.? The ruling was 4-3 and will be placed on hold pending appeal until January 4.

In November, a Colorado judge issued a ruling that concluded that Trump ?engaged in an insurrection? on that day ? but the decision fell just short of removing Trump from the state's 2024 ballot based on the 14th Amendment's insurrectionist ban.

The ruling was the latest legal victory for the GOP frontrunner, who has now defended his spot on the ballot in several key states, including Michigan and Minnesota, though appeals are underway.

While this lawsuit is not a criminal case, it is a highly notable finding and could factor into future challenges that are brought for the general election or even to block Trump from taking office if he wins next November. The Colorado decision is expected to be appealed to the US Supreme Court, regardless of the ruling.

    Million dollar question....

Why do they even bother in Colorado? We're so blue that the balls have disappeared entirely.

It's a pointless hill for anyone to die on, the electoral will be awarded to Biden even if he's babbling after a stroke, but here we are... fighting court battles that are valuable as internet arguments.

If it were a swing state this was occurring in, that would be more intriguing. Nikki is polling reasonably well in some swing states, it would be nice to actually field a candidate that could win for a change. I know that is IMPOSSIBLE. The GOP is not a conservative party anymore, unfortunately it's been derailed by a cult following of a cluster-B that his followers would drink koolaid and die for if he promised them salvation.

This is all like a slow motion train wreck of 40 golf carts driven by exceptionally old senior citizens. Regardless of how ridiculously stupid the 5mph crash looks, there's significant risk to life and property.

Because it was more likely to succeed and establish precedence rather than being tried in Florida or Texas.

If you want to raise you batting average, you don't want to play the Brewers (2023 ERA .371), you want to play the Rockies (2023 ERA .567).

    Same with this nonsense.

    Default Rule of Law

    18 U.S. Code ? 2101 - Riots

    He incited a riot.

Title 18 U.S. Code 2383 rebellion and insurrection charges at the federal level could be charged when perpetrators destroy government property or assault public officers. Simply put, it's considered a crime against the United States.

If I was Trump, I would have conceded the election.

I sincerely doubt SCOTUS will disagree.

Was Trump actually "charged" with rebellion and insurrection?

I see. So the presumption of innocence doesn't apply to Trump.

And I'm not a big Trump fan. Frankly, I don't care for the guy much. What I do care about is the playing by the rules. Obviously, others don't. Our system of government as founded is pretty fantastic. Our actual government is highly flawed and overrun with tyrants.

While I completely disagree that he incited a riot...assuming he did, inciting a riot is not a disqualifier from running for this office.

We're not a system of law, we're a system of judges though. 3/9 of which were appointed by Trump. I'd bet SCOTUS rationalizes whatever they need to to accomplish the result they want, because that's how our system actually works.

SCOTUS isn't going to remove Trump, who appointed them, from the ballot (impacting more states than CO), probably in no small part because the same cult kool-aid folks would threaten great bodily harm to all the judges. It's Trump-or-die for the only-Trumpers.
