Default Lane sharing/splitting/filtering will become legal this summer.

    https://www.9news.com/article/news/l...3-53c0389e4538

Motorcyclists will be able to ride between vehicles in Colorado after a bill was signed into law this week, but there are some caveats.

Signed by Gov. Jared Polis on Wednesday, SB24-079 allows motorcycles to move between cars if they're stopped (also known as lane filtering). It also requires that the motorcycle move at 15 mph or less, lanes be wide enough to pass safely and that conditions are safe to allow the pass to happen in the first place.

The law is set to take effect Aug. 7.

Oh so the two assholes doing it on 470 at 80 mph were not legit practicing for the new law?

What a stupid new entitlement for members of a "special" class.

    My Feedback
Credit TFOGGER : Liberals only want things to be "fair and just" if it benefits them.

Waste your time making you ask permission for things you have a natural right to own. "Anyone that thinks the communists won't turn off your power for being on COAR15 is a fucking moron."

I ride and think this is a dumb law. The same douchbags that ride way too fast, do wheelies down the highway and already lane split illegally are the ones claiming it's "unsafe" to sit in stopped or slow traffic and want filtering. In practice this will be used to lane split and not just filter under 15mph. I hope it's allowed to expire after the trial period.

It's been done in Italy since the first motorcycle has been invented.
It is perfectly safe unless some asshole opens his car door out of spite "because I was first!".

Too many riders and drivers already ignore the majority of traffic laws so this is just one more for the idiots to ignore. I’ve been riding for over 50 years-don’t plan on using this moronic excuse to get to the front of the line.

I work a bit in LA and see the usual commuter lane splitting and don't have a problem with it.

What I've been seeing around Denver is different though

Yesterday i drove home from the springs to Boulder during rush hour on i25 and through Denver i encountered three different groups of 8 plus riders that were lane splitting as a group through traffic. It was not a commuter on his way home, it was a group of guys out for fun.

I'm not willing to pay the insurance increase when these guys start getting wrapped up under semi trucks for fun.

And they get hit all the time there. Hell, I'VE been hit by a motorcycle there. T-boned the van I was driving. Dude dented the gas tank on his bike...

And the difference is, over there, the ambulance comes, scoops the rider up off the street and drives away. When it happened to me, the police just happened to drive by, asked us to move the bike out of the street and drove off. The the rental car company didn't even charge us for the damage. They didn't even ask any questions. Just said "no problem, hope you enjoyed Italy".

Here? Insurance. Lawsuits. Tickets. Big difference.
