"It depends" and "It's complicated."
Studies have been done, repeatedly, and yes, about 70% of younger NG members would indeed comply with what they believed to be a lawful order without question.
However, many older NG members have seen multiple deployments and understand "posse comitatus" and "things never used to be like this" and place the Constitution above what they might perceive to be an unlawful order. This could result in anything from, "Please put that order in writing," to malicious compliance, sabotage, fragging, or even outright mutiny.
That's a big reason why so many older NG (as well as LE) are being ordered to attend mandatory (and frequent) "sensitivity" (indoctrination) training and are being offered early retirement, to reduce the level of possible noncompliance to questionable orders.
Fun Fact: Many "militia" members and motorcycle club members are also former Combat Arms with training and experience, not to mention the vast number of mostly rural former military who "just want to be left alone." Politics doesn't even enter into that equation... tear up the Blue cities all you want, but try that shit in Appalachia or rural Montana and there are people there who can take out an Apache helicopter or an Abrams tank.
