    Default Daniel Defense Lawsuit

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/natio...ta-activision/

The lawyer who won a record-setting settlement for Sandy Hook families announced two lawsuits Friday on behalf of the relatives of Uvalde school shooting victims against the manufacturer of the AR-15-style weapon used in the attack, as well as the publisher of Call of Duty video games and the social media giant Meta.

The lawsuits against Daniel Defense, known for its high-end rifles; Activision, the manufacturer of the Call of Duty first-person-shooter series, and Meta, the parent company of Facebook, may be the first of their kind to connect aggressive firearms marketing tactics on social media and gaming platforms to the actions of a mass shooter.

The complaints contend the three companies are responsible for "grooming" a generation of "socially vulnerable" young men radicalized to live out violent video game fantasies in the real world with easily accessible weapons of war.

The lawsuits allege Meta and Activision "knowingly exposed the Shooter to the weapon, conditioned him to see it as the solution to his problems, and trained him to use it."

    Bullshit

I didn't see any popups asking for logins. Maybe my adblocker snuffed it.

I do my best not to post those.

Why not sue the Uvalde PD for not doing their job? I get it, the pockets are not deep enough.

Sorry, Sandy Hook has too many holes. Literally and figuratively to commit any further.

The supreme Court has already ruled that the police have no duty or requirement to protect.

So if this is legal and supported by our judicial system, couldn’t we formalize a class action suit against the manufacturers of things like cars, pools, bikes, baseball bats, trampolines, roller blades, skateboards, literally any kinds of sporting goods equipment, just because their products are marketed to kids and result in injury or death because of their misuse? That is asinine.

It is legal and has been used many, many times.

Remember when Red Bull had to pay out because their product did not actually give one wings? There are hundreds of examples of frivolous lawsuits because of "false advertising".

Grooming and conditioning are just new twists.

Class action lawsuits are supposed to be about keeping companies in check. But I think we all know that it is a cash grab, although, in this case, it is also about political leverage and potential punitive action against a company on the outside of the so-called mainstream.

I think that Activision in Facebook were thrown in there because their incredibly deep pockets and to give the appearance that the lawsuit is not solely about guns. Even though it sure seems like it is.

    Disclaimer:

Anyone can sue anyone for anything. Doesn't have to be supported in the law. Sometimes they can even win.

You can go down tomorrow and open a suit against your neighbor, accusing them of being a space alien, abducting you, and doing butt stuff.

If your neighbor doesn't appear and fight it, you may very well get a collectable, default judgment.

Occasionally, you may even be able to get a judgment even if they do appear, because at the end of the day, we have a judge-icial system. At the end of the day in a contested case, all that matters is the preference/bias of the sitting judge. And normal/good people don't usually become judges.

If this seems absurd to anyone, I could elaborate more, but this is the TLDR.
