    Default C-130 joyride today

Three of them flying probably around 1,000 feet heading south, roughly down Broadway in Boulder but a bit west (closer to the hills). I was driving north on 28th and had a clear view of their approach -- very obvious they were flying low and close enough to probably rattle houses.

Cool- I didn't hear them, but hopefully some pacifistic bliss ninnies soiled their dainties. I am sure the local idiots will blame the Boulder Municipal Airport.

When I was in Afghanistan working in the JOC we could identify which type of aircraft was up by its call sign. Each platform had a name and then the number identified the specific aircraft.

So if the call sign was "REAPER" we knew it was an AC-130 gunship
Call sign "NIGHTMARE" was an AV-8 Harrier.

I can't remember the others. Anyone know the call signs for A-10s, F-16s, Apaches?

C-130 is a cool ride. Got lucky and given tour of this one last spring. Met some of the crew as well.

From some of the stories I think they are a little shy of sane.

Maybe Hoser or some of his cohorts?

We fly about 5-6 days a week. And lots of other squadrons come out to fly around the mountains with us.

We will be out doing parade flyovers on the 4th of July. When you see us, be sure to waive with all your fingers.

Hopefully the fires stay calm so we dont have to do any firefighting this year. But we are ready just in case.
