    Default Home invasion

Early this morning at 2:45, I had an electrical issue and my garage didn?t close and I poorly didn?t make sure it was closed.
by pure fate a couple of assholes decided to get in my garage, get into all our vehicles, steal multiple things (Glock 26, 2 tan yeti 30 hoppers, crossbow, RC truck- Losi rock-Rey , spotting scope, my sons fishing backpack with all his gear and lures, my pellet gun, couple knives, the center console divider of my truck, and a pair of vortex diamondback binoculars).

I?ve already got the police report in, still in a bit of shock as our neighborhood has never had an issue but these fuckers decided to continue on and break into on of my neighbors cars, then open their garage and continue stealing.

i have cameras and video footage of them, all given to the sheriffs office, and will be digging in further with other cameras to hopefully get some more details.

if anyone has any advice on what else to provide to police or local pawn shops I?d appreciate it.

It's truly sickening what people do. The good news is it?s just stuff, all I really care about is my family is safe they didn?t try to come in the home. If they did we would have a much different outcome.

be careful out there, the quiet local semi-country place I grew up in is truly gone. This state needs some serious changing.
All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break em for no one.

That's fukkin crazy. Glad everyone is safe. I believe I am familiar with your "neighborhood", last place I would have thought such a thing would happen.

Glad you and yours are safe. Have you heard of DNA spray/gel? In a nutshell, synthetic DNA that's applied to things that might get stolen.

The amount of times that LEO does a DNA test on stolen property is exactly zero.

The amount of times that LEO does even fingerprints on cases of stolen property isn't quite zero, but not far off.

There's enough backlog for DNA tests on aggravated rape alone. You practically have to get murdered before forensics takes a look at anything.

While I haven't looked at the site, the premise alone is marketing on CSI-watching soccer moms.

Court system and LEO have a lot of cases to handle, so each cases receives usually a baseline investment in time. They aren't committed to solving your crime, they're committed to going home at the end of the day.

I learned this lesson as the jury foreman of a felony menacing and burglary case. A key aspect of the case was that the suspect claimed he had not been in the victim's apartment for several years, so any strong prints of his on common touch items would be forceful evidence to the contrary. Yet, no print collection was even attempted in processing the scene. Our jury question to the judge and DA was met with a hemming and hawing answer about "resources", yet the charges could theoretically put the suspect away for a decade or more. More ammunition for why we acquitted him fairly quickly.
The vagrants of Boulder welcome you...

I recently had someone try to break into one of my houses I am working on. He did a lot of damage, but never got in. I have about 80 mugshot quality photos of him on two different nights trying to get in. The police knew who he was and picked him up within a week or two. He was charged with two felonies. Now we are being revictimized by the judicial system. The DA wants to accept a plea for a misdemeanor. The police have dealt with this guy a lot, he is not a good person by a long shot.

I hope they find your belongings, but don’t count on the court to give out justice.

    Truly Sorry Man.
As far as what to give the Police and anything further..............
Serials of anything they took if you can.
Talk to neighbors and any video you can give them......... ie any video of the vehicle/s they were in.
Photos of anything unique........ie the knives, yes you can describe it but a "photo tells a thousand words"

I had the same thing happen a few years ago.............well left my truck unlocked in front of the house........... I live in North Thornton, where this isn't supposed to happen.

Why isn't crime supposed to happed in Thornton?

Crime happens everywhere. Thieves are always looking for an opportunity- the easier, the better.

If you want to keep your stuff, make it more difficult for them.

Make sure your garage door closes. Make sure your truck is locked. Every time.

Don't leave valuables in the vehicle. Don't leave garage door openers in cars parked outside. Make sure all your doors and windows are difficult to get through. All the tips we have heard a million times.

We must be especially vigilant now, with the apparent crime wave driven by homeless drug addicts, rampant illegals and a society frightened of teaching morals.
