I understand that the OP's garage door was TU, but how did the perps open the neighbor's doors without being detected? At our old Arvada home, you could hear the garage opener throughout the house.

[Lovely smartphone PC autocorrect changed "perps" to "peeps". ]

Newer garage door openers are pretty quite. Even with my old heavy wooden garage door I often can't tell if the door is opening/closing when I'm in the bedroom right on top of the door. If I'm in my garage and someone comes to my front door I'll open the garage door, walk around the corner and scare the daylights out of whoever is at my front door because they didn't hear the garage door.

Thieves are getting more brazen and craftier. They're aware that advancements in technology to enhance our lives also opens opportunities for them to take advantage of us.

    This.

Just replaced the garage door openers for my mom, and the new ones are incredibly quiet. The door, with a little bit of bolt tightening and some grease quieted way down too.

Crime in general is rising pretty noticeably in most population "centers" (front range, I70 corridor of Western Slope, etc).

The house across the alley from me was a meth house, 15yo girl OD'd there. The lady that owns it is on trial for being the legal guardian of the 15yo and allowing the shenanigans to go on. Someone that she has had living there for a while stole a car from Boulder, crashed it multiple times coming to SE LGMT, and then ran into the house. Got to watch BPD, LPD, and BCSO all hang out with shields and rifles out. Flew a drone into the house to spot said meth-head, threatened to go in and get him, but he gave up and came out after they told him the K9 unit was 3 minutes out.

Apparently he didn't want to make friends with the puppy... Tying into the other thread, he was a winner with face tats.

My neighbor (2 doors away) has been through 2 attempted car jackings in LGMT in the last 3 months. He works really weird and inconsistent hours. One of the attempts was late at night, 2 homeless clowns started "fighting" in the street in front of him at a light, and then 2 more tried to sneak up from behind and the sides to get into the doors. He just gunned it through the light, and supposedly almost hit the 2 fighters.

My family frequents Longmont often and my elderly Mom lives there too. Can you share approximate locations and times of day for your neighbor's carjacking incidents?

I'll get more details. I know the one in the middle of the night was Main St, somewhere along the downtown drag (3rd to 9th).

I'll post here and PM you after I talk to him again.

Well the Longmont thing is disappointing. 3rd to 8th is the crime hotspot here and has been for a while.
I noticed a few odd cars in my hood too and we have generally gone to keeping doors locked.

Being in SE LGMT, Southmoor Park, we have had a LOT of random cars showing up to "car camp". It's more common on the through streets, but even on my cul de sac we had someone show up and plan to live in their car. The neighbors called the cops and they made sure that wackjob moved on.

Fences are getting tagged, teens cut through yards with no/downed fences, shed roofs are getting tagged where easily accessible. One along 287 on the west side between Quebec and Pike.

Cameras and motion detector lights seem to keep people from screwing with me too much, but I am actively planning/working towards leaving LGMT for significantly less populated areas.

You are far braver than I am if you were leaving vehicles and other doors unlocked with any regularity "recently".

I have limited garage space so vehicles are outside. The garage is equipped with an opener but we don’t use it except from inside the garage. We don’t leave anything of value in any of the vehicles, never a gun or a weapon of any sort. I leave the topper on the pickup unlocked so that if someone opens it they will see nothing except a case of water. I used to lock it but someone bent one side trying to pry it open and damaged it. There is zero evidence that I have guns, no decals or stickers or signs on vehicles or structures. My next door neighbor has a motion activated light and camera and I have two cameras, one front of the house and one backyard, both of them inside and behind the windows.

Sorry you had to go through this, thieves suck.

Fortunately, my Mom's area on the westside near Harvard and Mountain View has been pretty stable with little to no incidents. Her neighbors are established good people.

When in Longmont, my family usually operates on the lower Hover corridor (Fairgrounds, Target, King Soopers) and the upper Main Corridor (Murdochs, 287 Walmart). From what I have seen, there are a few degenerates in the Hover corridor, but way more over on Main.
