    Default Forest Fire Arson

    I was wrong.

Many of you guys were saying that the Alexander Mountain fire was arson. I argued it likely wasn't. Today they arrested a guy for setting the fire and pretending he was both a firefighter and a police officer.

    https://www.cbsnews.com/colorado/new...fire-colorado/ you think that

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the Alexander Mountain Fire that burned almost 10,000 acres in Northern Colorado earlier this year. The wildfire ignited on July 29 and destroyed 28 homes and 21 other structures.

Larimer County Sheriff John Feyen said the suspect has been identified as Jason Hobby, 49, a Loveland resident and former employee of Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch.

Hobby was an employee of the ranch until about three or four weeks ago when he was identified as a suspect in the fire.

He faces several charges including first-degree arson, impersonation of a police officer, menacing, false imprisonment and impersonating a public official.

Feyen said that Hobby falsely represented himself as law enforcement and fire personnel and stopped travelers months before the Alexander Mountain Fire, falsely claiming they were trespassing. Feyen also said Hobby pointed weapons at those who he had stopped.

Hobby has an extensive criminal record in California, according to Feyen.

The whole pretending to be a firefighter thing is a well established part of the profile for serial arsonists.

wow. I wonder how long he's been in CO and if he's tied to any other fires in either state.... I'd sure love to hear him on tape/see him on video, explaining who he was/what he was doing, if such a recording exists. In any case, I'm glad the Larimer County sheriff's office has caught him, and hope he's really the culprit.

It blows me away that some of our Forest Fires have resulted in denuded landscape even 20+ years later.

I've hiked this area and there is no indication that trees or vegetation of any kind is returning. It's like a moonscape, even today.

Once upon a time people got notoriety from the things they built/created. Today, it seems to me, too many people gain notoriety from the things they destroy.

Accidents happen and bad weather causes plenty of destruction on its own. I just can't wrap my head around why some feel the need to be destructive.

It's not that there are more sick fuks. It's just the ease of communication since al gores invention was put into use.

When JFK was assassinated it took maybe a day to become worldwide news. When trump was shot it took, maybe 5 minutes to travel the same distance.

I know there was a DV with fatality next town over, minutes after it was called into 911. Not because there's more sick fuks, but how many outlets, scanners and people with phones in their hands.

Not to take away from what seems to be a never ending news cycle where i know a gang member in vatoland was arrested, or politician caught in a spy ring, etc happened minutes afterward

Pretty sure I saw an episode of Criminal Minds with this premise.
